Tighnabruaich is under two hours’ drive from Glasgow via the A82 / A83 Loch Lomond / ’Rest and be thankful’ route. This takes you via A815 towards Strachur from the A83, just before Cairndow. At Strachur turn right onto the A886, then the A8003 at Glendaruel.
Alternatively, use the ferry crossing at Gourock on the Clyde coast, giving direct access to Cowal at Dunoon, a 35 minute drive from Tighnabruaich. For this route stay on the M8 westbound to Greenock and continue on to the ferries at Gourock.
If you like the idea of an island hopping trip, then you can also take the ferry from Wemyss Bay to Rothesay on the Island of Bute, then, take another ferry from Rhubodach to Colintraive which is a short drive to Tighnabruaich.

Whichever option you choose, the last 15 minutes are spectacular as you enter Tighnabruaich, it is worth stopping to enjoy the unparalleled views of the Kyles of Bute before you descend down to sea level and into Tighnabruaich.
There are regular flights to Glasgow from all over the UK from here you can car hire a car that will allow you to explore Tighnabruaich and its surroundings. Glasgow Airport is next to the M8 making your journey very straight forward.
